Watercolor Wednesday: I'm Just Wild About Saffron

Saffron is a spice that comes from the dried stigmas of the Saffron Crocus. Today I painted a faerie inspired both by the purple and mauve crocuses and the color Saffron has imparted on food and clothing for years:

I'm Forever Blowing Faerie Bubbles...

Pretty bubbles in the air! This is for my friend Melissa who has an affinity for both bubbles and fairies and requested faerie bubbles last week...here's a pretty little watercolor...overlapping spheres were fun to do!

May is Strawberry Month...

In honor of Strawberry Month I drew a Strawberry Fairy .  Actually I didn't set out to honor Strawberry month, I was at a complete loss for what to draw to today so after drawing crop circles for 15 minutes I decided to fall back on my old stand by, fairies.  Meanwhile I remembered an image of cupcake stuffed chocolate dipped strawberries I saw at 1FineCookie and she had mentioned May was strawberry month...and so I drew a Strawberry Fairy.  Thank goodness I didn't decide to draw a cupcake stuffed, chocolate dipped strawberry fairy.

"F" is for Fairy...

Alright, it's Friday and I have a Fairy for you. Wikipedia's definition for fairy is pretty wide: "fairy (also faeryfaeriefayfaeeuphemistically wee folkgood folkpeople of peacefair folk, etc.)[1] is a type of mythical being or legendary creature, a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical, supernatural or preternatural."
I suppose this can be chalked up to the fact that fairies are found in so many different cultures and folklore that you can't be too specific or you'll exclude a certain type of fairy.  So, small supernatural free spirited pretty people.
