The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone

The triple deity is a concept that pops up in many religions and in old religions, especially Celtic ones this triple deity manifests in a feminine way as triple goddesses.  Most interestingly to me is that in this version each godess represents a phase of life: the maiden is youth and purity, the mother represents fertility and creation and the crone represents age, wisdom and a bit of the darkness that comes from experiencing too much.  Together they show the balance in all life and the wisdom in not straying too much towards one spectrum.  It reminds me a bit of a passage from the bible (specifically Ecclesiastes 3:1) "To everything there is a season".  For more about the triple goddess go here. To view the image with stock image links go to Deviant Art.
